Eli Rowe

Retired electrical engineer, forty years designing industrial electronics. Now runs a cluttered home bench and refuses to let any beginner waste money on a $29 soldering iron.

Eli Rowe spent forty years in industrial electronics, mostly in test-instrument design and applications engineering. He retired two years ago to finally build the home workshop he had promised himself since the early 1990s.

TinkerBench reviews soldering stations, multimeters, entry-level oscilloscopes, starter kits, and small-batch prototyping tools. Every review is written for a specific maker: the returning hobbyist, the parent buying a first kit for a twelve-year-old, the retired EE who wants to build a thing rather than debug a career. Eli buys everything with his own retirement money and accepts nothing from manufacturers.
